Professor and head of the division of Neurology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Dr. James Stephens died Sept 20, 1966, of cancer.

He was born Sept 1, 1920, at Hereford, England, the son of George Stephens, a journalist, and Anna Wills. As a boy he attended several public schools, but the happiest times of his childhood were spent on the south coast. It was here that he developed an early love for the sea and an ambition for a life in the Navy. In the hope that he might later enter the Royal Navy as a medical officer, he enrolled as a medical student at Guy's Hospital in 1936. But the world changed and at the time of his graduation in 1942, his choice of a career did not coincide with that selected for him.
