This book is a record of the presentations and discussions at the 13th Annual Houston Neurological Scientific Symposium. The format of this series of publications is well known to readers of neurological literature. This volume emphasizes ancillary techniques of neurological diagnosis, but certain aspects of the clinical neurological examination are also considered in a series of three chapters by Dr. Morris Bender and his colleagues.
The selection of topics is imaginative and topical. The sections dealing with standard areas such as cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) examination, electroencephalography, and neuroradiology emphasize new approaches to these established procedures. For example, Dr. Wallace Tourtellotte's chapter reflects his intense and vigorous enthusiasm for more serious appraisal of CSF, and Dr. Mannie Schechter all too briefly discusses the value of radiologic subtraction techniques in angiographic studies of intracranial vessels.
