In writing such a book, the editor has attempted to collect in a single available place, a limited practical discussion and a rather detailed illustrated description of the operative procedures required in the surgical care of children. The obvious purpose of such a volume is to complement the existing textbooks of pediatric surgery, and the present volume attempts to cover as well the fields of plastic, thoracic, urologic, orthopedic, and neurosurgical surgery. In order to accomplish this, the editor has called upon his colleagues at the University of Rochester Medical Center, who are to be congratulated on their lucid, though brief and to the point text. The illustrations are clear halftone drawings which are nicely shown but, in general, could be larger, in order to fill the available page size.
