The Remote Effects of Cancer on the Nervous System, volume 1 of Contemporary Neurology Symposia published by Grune and Stratton represents the proceedings of a symposium sponsored by the Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Denistry, Sept 30 and Oct 1, 1964, and was edited by Lord Brain, DM, LLD, Sc, DCLFRS, and Forbes H. Norris, Jr., MD.

Most of the chapters are excellent contributions of the remote effects of cancer on the nervous system. The chapters by Richardson, Victor, Rowland, and Schotland, Lambert and Rooke, Croft and Wilkinson, etc, are all excellent presentations of various clinical neurological syndromes related to the remote effects of cancer. My criticism of these chapters would be that on reading them I experienced some déjà vu. Much of the material in these chapters has appeared previously in other publications by these authors.
