This monograph consists of a series of papers presented at a symposium on neuro-ophthalmology held in Miami in January 1963. The reason for the symposium, according to the editor, was a "lack of postgraduate training in neuro-ophthalmology for the practitioner" despite advances in all other phases of clinical neurology and neurosurgery. The book, which is called the "little volume," is aimed at practitioners in ophthalmology. A casual glance at the chapter headings reveals a conglomeration of topics written in the first person, evidently as presented at the symposium. Some of these topics are reviews of subjects which may be found in standard texts. Pediatric neuro-ophthalmology is a transcription from another book. Hoyt's article on the anatomy of the optic chiasm is informative and contains some new and valuable data. Dr. Walsh's articles on the optic nerve and orbit are also good.
