Dr. Walters justifies the publication of this book in the presence of many new books on disorders of muscle by the fact that it covers muscle disease generally, is not as extensive as the three volume book by Bourne, and unlike the Association of Research in Nervous and Mental Disease text on Neuromuscular Disease in 1958. the present book does not deal predominantly in research. In actuality this book is almost identical to the 1958 Association book. However, it fulfills a need in a rapidly moving field of investigation in bringing widely spread material together that has occurred since the 1958 publication of the Association.

The book is clearly written in almost all aspects, the majority of the illustrations are excellent, the cost, however, is exorbitant which is unfortunate for our colleagues in other countries.
