Publication of this "symposium" is further evidence of burgeoning research activity throughout the world in the heterogenous fields which comprise neuroendocrinology. The volume, edited at Montreal, is a collection of 27 original papers and review articles from various laboratories in 13 countries in the western hemisphere, western and eastern Europe, and Asia. Two are in French, the others are in English.
The topics covered include a general discussion of neuroendocrine interactions which deals with the nervous system control over pituitary function. There are four major sections which deal with the regulation of the secretion of ACTH, aldosterone, thyrotrophic stimulating hormone, and gonadotrophins, respectively. The papers are quite varied in their composition; some are very general essays, others are short, technical manuscripts with an emphasis on methods and presentation of the data obtained.
