Tropical Neurology is not a compendium of exotic diseases which exist in far away lands. Rather it is the published papers of a meeting held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November, 1961, under the joint sponsorship of the World Federation of Neurology and the Neurological Association of Argentina.
The major presentations concern themselves with parasitic infections of the central nervous system, most well known though sporatically encountered by neurologists the world over. Included are detailed descriptions of echinococcosis, cysticercosis, trypanosomiasis, and leprosy of the nervous system. The essayists are able to draw on an extremely wide experience with these infectious processes, and hence comprehensive presentations of the clinical problems, pathological features, and results of therapeutic measures are given in detail.
The continued high incidence of these diseases in some areas of the world, despite our advanced knowledge of their epidemiology, is of major importance and should be of concern to
