To the Editor: I am writing to request that you publish this communication to correct an inaccuracy in the article entitled "Localized Cooling in the Central Nervous System," by Yuji Miyazaki, MD, Frank R. Ervin, MD, Jean Siegfried, MD, Edward P. Richardson, MD, and Vernon H. Mark, MD, Archives of Neurology 9:392, 1963. The authors state, "Cooper has reported a series of freezing lesions without gross or microscopic hemorrhage." This is inaccurate, and I should not like this inaccuracy to persist. The authors attributed this information to a personal communication.

The fact is that the findings which I have reported are identical to those previously reported by Balthasar¹ and Hass and Taylor.² It should be obvious that the mere introduction of a cannula into biologic tissue will eventually produce a microscopic hemorrhage.
