The Pocket Guide and Toolkit to DeJong's Neurologic Examination is an abbreviated version of the larger classic text DeJong's The Neurologic Examination.1 It is streamlined, with all reference to basic science removed, and contains only the essentials of the clinical examination. A distinguishing feature of this pocket guide is the appendix containing an examination "toolkit" (page vi) as well as copies of useful tests and rating scales.

Aids to the neurologic examination are always welcome. The best achieve just the right balance between bare bones and everything you could possibly want to know. This book accomplishes this goal. It is portable, although it will only fit in a large pocket. It is well written. It is well organized and has a good index. There is a chapter on the general screening neurologic examination.
