If you are interested in understanding the behavioral phenotype of genetically altered mice, this second edition of Jacqueline Crawley's tersely named monograph on mouse behavioral testing should be your initial point of reference. Whether you are an established behavioral neuroscientist, a basic molecular biologist whose interactions with mice are solely at the tissue level, or anyone in between, this thorough overview of mouse behavior will be a welcome reference, as was the first edition.

Dr Crawley accomplishes her stated goal of providing a relatively comprehensive overview of behavioral neuroscience. Do not, however, expect a "cookbook" or laboratory manual of mouse behavioral protocols that can be followed to the letter with little thought.
