A comparative analysis of the article by Watts et al1 published in the January 2007 issue of Neurology and the article by Jankovic et al2 published in the May 2007 issue of the Archives indicates that these are redundant publications. Each section of both articles contains substantially similar information. Most of the tables and figures and the data in the "Results" sections from both articles are redundant. The Archives article contains some additional data, but this additional information represents a minor contribution.
Despite the considerable similarity between these 2 articles, the Neurology article was not referenced in the manuscript submitted to the Archives in September 2006, nor did the authors inform the editor of the existence of this similar paper as is required in the Archives "Instructions for Authors."
