The subspecialty of headache is a rapidly burgeoning field, constantly developing and refining the science behind diagnosis and treatment. In 2003, the International Headache Society agreed upon a revised headache classification—the first in 20 years. In 2005, the subspecialty was approved by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties for fellowship training and a certification examination is now being developed. Given these recent changes, much of what the average physician learned in training is now outdated. As such, there is a significant need for a good review book to cover the new classifications, new understanding of migraine pathophysiology, and the treatment of these diseases. This seventh edition does that admirably.
