This book originated from a conference, organized by Devinsky and Westbrook, in New York City in the fall of 1999. They assembled an extraordinary group of experts representing a wide range of fields related to epilepsy and developmental disabilities. The result is a concise textbook that provides an integrated source of knowledge and experience that will serve as guidelines for medical and medically related professionals involved in the evaluation and treatment of patients with developmental disabilities.
The topics range from developmental neurobiology to the classification of epileptic syndromes and the relationship of seizures to cognitive and behavioral disorders. Therefore, this book provides an excellent overview of pediatric epileptology, both for specialists and for general neurologists.
