The second edition of the neuroanatomy textbook by Crossman and Neary
employs an integrated approach to the study of neuroanatomy. It is aimed at
medical students in both the preclinical and clinical years and includes correlative
material on neurophysiology, pathology, and clinical medicine. The introductory
overview contains the essential aspects of neuroanatomy for those wishing
a brief review, and proceeds to cover cellular, microscopic, gross, and surface
anatomy in sequence. The text is profusely illustrated, in color. The drawings,
photographs, and radiographs focus on the needs of the student who is just
beginning to be amazed and discouraged by the intricacies of the nervous system.
Several features deserve special attention. Students should commit to
memory the illustrations of the cutaneous distribution of the nerve roots
and nerves of the limbs, knowledge that is immensely useful in all fields
