Looking at the title, one might expect a book characterized predominantly
by statistics and percentages, probably very dull to read. This is far from
the truth. This book was exceedingly well written, and I thoroughly enjoyed
reading it.
The first chapters deal with important matters relating to prognosis,
such as ethical and medicolegal issues. There are some very interesting cases
mentioned that enlighten us on legal aspects. Also mentioned is the way in
which clinical trials are carried out, with the different methods clearly
explained with good examples. The following chapters look at each disease
category separatelycerebrovascular disorders, cranial nerves and brainstem,
and so on. Each of these chapters provides a clear summary of the different
types of each disorder, how to approach the diagnosis, the treatments available,
and the known outcome of each treatment. The outcomes have been thoroughly
