Wide acceptance of a previous edition and significant advances in our understanding of specific topics are 2 requirements for a successful new edition of a scientific textbook. The second edition of Clinical Diagnosis and Management of Alzheimer's Disease clearly fulfills these 2 criteria. This textbook builds on the strength of the first edition, published in 1996. The basic structure of the textbook is unchanged. Original contributors together with a few additional contributors (a total of 54) review the basic science and clinical management of Alzheimer disease. The textbook is clearly written with practical aspects in mind. Several tables summarize major points in every chapter to orient the reader and also are useful for rapid overview.
