The Fundamentals of Clinical Neuropsychiatry is literally packed with useful clinical information. As it is clearly directed toward practicing clinical psychiatrists, these individuals will find the text most useful. The book begins with an overview of basic neuroanatomy in regard to brain function, and then covers neuropsychiatric evaluation and psychopathology. Patient management issues are addressed, as are major psychiatric disorders, including affective illness, psychosis, and personality disorders. The author then addresses neurological disorders, including epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and dementia. The text returns to psychiatric illness and covers diagnostic and treatment issues in substance abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorders, and neurovegetative problems. Finally, the author addresses the assessment and management of violent and aggressive patients. In short, this text covers considerable ground and much of the information supplied is useful and clinically relevant.
