No challenge appears more daunting nor more important to modern clinical neurologists than that of absorbing and digesting the "new" molecular genetics. Many years past our certifying examinations, we are confronted daily with the fact that an understanding of molecular mechanisms is required for both diagnosis and management of patients. Joseph Martin, one of the premier teachers and scientists of our profession, has presented us with a monograph that is both extremely absorbing and easily digestible. It is most fitting that Martin, who was and is such a key figure in the development of molecular neurology, be the editor of this book.
Molecular Neurology is the fourth in a series by Scientific American called Introduction to Molecular Medicine; the others deal with oncology, cardiovascular, and general medicine. Martin has assembled authors and colleagues, many from Harvard University and University of California, San Francisco, to compile 15 chapters that cover . . . [Full Text of this Article]
