The focus of this book is to provide patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families, friends, and health care professionals with guidance for the care of patients with MS. The book is divided into 3 sections.
Part I, "What Is Multiple Sclerosis?" includes 3 chapters. Chapter 1, "Multiple Sclerosis Is . . . ," describes the disease in layman's terms. It is well written, clear, and concise. Topics include the anatomy of the disease, myelin, demyelination, MS characteristics and classification of disease, the immune system, and possible causes of MS.
