The excellent article by Bhim Singhal¹ titled "Neurology in Developing Countries: A Population Perspective" is a welcome contribution to efforts to improve awareness of the extent of neurologic disorders in economically deprived areas and the need for further attention to concerns such as neurologic education and training.

We assume that Singhal's mention of the "partnership program instituted by the World Federation of Neurology" refers to the Neurology International Partnership Program that we started following a meeting of concerned neurologists during the World Federation of Neurology in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1993. We take this opportunity to let our colleagues know that to date the Neurology International Partnership Program has linked 140 academic units in market economy countries, with an equal number of partners in developing countries and in Eastern Europe, for the purpose of sharing written materials, exchanging ideas, and, when appropriate and possible, faculty and trainees.
