This edited volume represents the proceedings of the International Symposium on Optical Imaging and Metabolism held in Berlin, Germany, in May 1995. The book is devoted to developments in optical imaging of the brain, which is a functional neuroimaging technique in both human and experimental animal studies. The book deals with recent technical developments of optical imaging. The multiauthored book is divided into 5 sections: (1) signal sources in functional neuroimaging; (2) technical developments in near infrared spectroscopy of the brain; (3) application of near infrared spectroscopy for the functional assessment of brain and comparison with other functional neuroimaging methods; (4) coupling of brain activity and cerebral blood flow and functional neuroimaging methods; and (5) multimodal imaging of the human brain.
The book is well written and organized with minimal overlap. The figures, tables, and illustrations (including color) are well done. This is an important book for a limited number . . . [Full Text of this Article]
