Far-field auditory evoked potentials in near-miss sudden infant death syndrome

Auditory evoked potentials (AEPs) were determined in 16 patients with
near-miss sudden infant death syndrome. The AEPs were normal in all
patients except one with prolonged 1 to V interpeak latency (bilaterally)
and another with an asymmetry of interear 1 to V interpeak latency
difference. These results indicate that AEPs do not permit detection of
infants at high risk for crib death.
