Valproic Acid

Treatment of Myoclonus in Dyssynergia Cerebellaris Myoclonica

Ernest R. Somerville, MRCP; C. Warren Olanow, MD

Arch Neurol. 1982;39(8):527-528.

Abstract

• Valproic acid produced marked reduction in myoclonus in a patient with dyssynergia cerebellaris myoclonica (DCM), resulting in substantial functional improvement. These results justify a trial of valproic acid in patients with DCM who are disabled by myoclonus.
