Abstract

• We describe subacute periventricular encephalitis manifestingas dementia in an adult with a radionuclide brain scan showing"ventriculitis." Cranial computed tomography erroneously indicatedan infiltrative tumor. We emphasize the use of conservativemanagement rather than surgical exploration.
