Clinical Syndromes of Myasthenia in Infancy and Childhood

A Review

Gerald M. Fenichel, MD

Arch Neurol. 1978;35(2):97-103.

Abstract

• Ten clinical syndromes of defective neuromuscular transmission in infancy and childhood are reviewed. Autoimmune, genetic, infectious, and pharmacologic mechanisms have been implicated. These disorders manifest themselves in a variety of ways including severe respiratory insufficiency. Prompt diagnosis and treatment may be lifesaving.
