Arch Neurol. 1974;30(4):322-323.

Abstract

We report negative results in a doubleblind study of the therapeutic value of inosiplex in Guamanian patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Similar rates of progression and mortality over a two-year period were observed in eight inosiplex-treated patients and eight matched controls who received a placebo, and an additional five patients who received inosiplex but for whom no controls were available. Most patients, whether given placebo or drug, experienced subjective improvement, and some gained weight during the early phase of the study. Regardless of treatment, approximately 25% of the patients did not progress clinically during the two years of observation.
