Roger Cappel, MD; Jean Klastersky, MD

Arch Neurol. 1973;28(6):415-416.

Abstract

A 23-year-old man with acute lymphoblastic leukemia developed clinical manifestations of acute meningitis, but had only six white blood cells per cubic millimeter in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Herpes simplex virus 1 was isolated from the CSF. The patient died of his leukemia one week later; no morphological abnormalities were found in brain or spinal cord.
